WEA Illawarra is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 90297), accredited by ASQA. Our qualifications and short courses are recognised across Australia - opening doors to new work and study opportunities.
What You Need to Know Before You Enrol
Flexible Enrolment
You can enrol at any time. We’ll arrange a meeting with your trainer to go over course details and requirements before you begin.
Study Options
Choose from:
- Full qualifications
- Skill sets (a group of units from a qualification)
- Individual units of competency
- We offer both accredited and non-accredited pathways.
Fees and Funding
You may be eligible for subsidised training under NSW Smart and Skilled or the ACE program. To check eligibility, complete our vocational enrolment form and provide photo ID (Drivers Licence and/or Medicare card). We’ll send you a formal quote - valid for 10 days.


Before You Start
Meet with your trainer and get guidance to ensure the course suits your goals. Complete a Language, Literacy & Numeracy (LLN) assessment. Finalise your enrolment application
How you'll learn
- Flexible, independent study at your own pace
- Online or Face-to-face support at our Wollongong campus through YOUR CHOICE classes
- Trainers available during class times to guide you and answer questions
- Additional support available for students with learning needs or disabilities
National Recognition and RPL
WEA Illawarra is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 90297), with accredited training by ASQA. Students receive a Certificate for completing full qualifications or a Statement of Attainment for individual units. Assessment is competency-based, with outcomes recorded as either Competent or Not Yet Competent.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
- Use your existing skills and experience to gain part or all of a qualification.
- Submit evidence (e.g. work samples, references)
- Complete an assessment with a qualified assessor
- Fill any gaps by studying individual units
Unique Student Identifier
To participate in nationally recognised accredited training at WEA Illawarra, you’ll need to obtain your Unique Student Identifier (USI).
To create or locate your USI, visit the official USI website.
Important Tips:
- Write down your USI and keep it somewhere safe and easy to access.
- Once you have your USI, please notify WEA Illawarra by phone or email as soon as possible.
- Creating your USI is quick and simple online.
