Disability & Special Needs
WEA Illawarra aims to support individuals with special needs in as many ways as possible.
When enrolling into a course we ask that students disclose any physical or special needs that they might have so that we can provide the most suitable classroom and resources. Most of our classrooms are wheelchair accessible and we are also equipped with disabled toilets and disabled parking spots. We have experience supporting people with many different special needs, and will work with you to aim to accommodate your particular needs.
WEA Illawarra offers you a range of Foundation Skills Courses designed to help you break any barriers that are limiting your life or career progress. We want to help you get a job and secure it, while also preparing you for any further training or studying you want to do.
NDIS Clients and Work Skills Courses
Qualifications as well as individual subjects (unit of competency) or groups of subjects are available to people with special needs. We have trainers experienced in working with people with disabilities and other special needs.
You may attend one of our standard courses, or join a small class providing additional focused support.
We also work with organisations supporting people with disabilities or other special needs, to provide classes to meet specific needs and interests. These may be conducted on the WEA Illawarra site or on a site requested by the organisation. Funding options for Work Skills courses may include NDIS, and NSW Smart and Skilled (NSW Government).
