Learn, learn, learn and enjoy painting!
Acrylic painting can be the easiest medium, so learn to master basic painting skills.
Key skills will include blending, layering, washes, mapping, colour and the elements.
This class is suitable for absolute beginners or for those who wish to refresh their established skills.

Materials Required

BRING THE FOLLOWING MATERIALS TO CLASS WITH YOU

EQUIPMENT FOR ACRYLIC PAINTING
Please bring the following materials and equipment with you to class:

1. 12 x 16inch (approx.) canvas or board
2. 16 x 20 inch stretched canvas
3. A4 (or similar sized) Sketch Pad
4. 6B and B pencil
5. Kneadable rubber
6. 2 x squat jars or strong plastic containers (for water)
7. 1 Rag and/or roll of kitchen paper
8. 1 small bottle of Acrylic “Retarder” (to slow down drying process)
9. Brushes: A variety of soft, synthetic painting brushes; differing sizes from large square to small, round pointed; or any “Starter” brush set
10. Palettes: 2 - 4 white plastic picnic plates (smooth bottom), or any palette you may have or prefer. * Plastic plates are Tutor’s preferred option
11. Paints: ACRYLIC PAINT COLOURS (100ml tube size):
Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red (true red), Crimson (cool red), Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo Blue, Paynes Grey (if available, or Black),
OR, any Beginner’s Set of good quality acrylic paints (100ml tube size).

All students MUST wear closed in shoes

Campus Information

Parking

There is plenty of parking onsite but please DO NOT TURN RIGHT into the carpark. You could endanger yourself, any passengers and any others on the road.

The centre should be approached from the South, either at the south end of Auburn Street, or by turning into Auburn Street from Swan or West Streets.

Food and Drink

There is a Zip Tap available for those who wish to BYO cup plus tea/coffee/milk supplies.

Confirmation of Course and Purchase of Materials

At times WEA must cancel classes due to lack of enrolments. To avoid undue costs please do not purchase any materials until your course has been confirmed as going ahead.

Please call the WEA office on phone: (02) 4226 1622 three days prior to the commencement of the class to confirm that it will be going ahead.

No Smoking

Please note that WEA is a smoke-free business and smoking is not allowed in the building in the carparks or in any outside area on WEA property.

COVID and your Safety

If you are feeling unwell or displaying covid or cold and flu symptoms, please stay at home and notify our office that you will not be attending classes.

Our staff may ask you to leave if you appear to be unwell so that we protect our students and staff. We will operate according to Public Health Orders as required.
