Mosaic Madness for House and Garden (PM session)

Mosaic can be small and functional or big and just for fun in the garden. Make a mosaic framed mirror, photo frame, table top, or a mosaic garden sculpture. Mosaic can be anything you want it to be. These projects can be partly or fully mosaiced. Make your own clay tiles or symbols to personalise your project. Try making a 3D form or totem for the garden. Learn to plan and problem solve together on larger personal projects as you move into new creative experiences.

BRING THE FOLLOWING MATERIALS TO CLASS WITH YOU

For the first session each student will only need to bring:
• Your ideas and/or your project
• Glue
• Tile nippers and/or glass cutters
• Some mosaic materials
• Towel
Any other material requirements can be brought in as needed such as grout, face masks, gloves etc.
Some materials will be needed to get started, others can be sourced further down the track when you know more about what you are doing.

REQUIREMENTS TO GET YOU STARTED
- Flat edged tile nippers approximately $20 from hardware stores / Unanderra Hardware Man stores. DTA brand. Great for crockery and ceramic tiles.
- Glass cutters are for art glass (leadlight glass) and glass tiles. They can be used on crockery and will blunt blunt more quickly over time.
- Old towel for cutting tiles on.
- Safety glasses.
- Tiles and crockery: Johnson 10x10cm tiles from Bunnings are easy to work with and crockery gives you lots of colour and decorative pattern choices. Avoid floor tiles because they are very hard to cut.
- Pictures of ideas for your project, pencil and paper for your design.
- Adhesive for your project.- this can be decided on the first night if you are unsure.
- Wellbond PVA – a flexible and great adhesive for mosaicers, always handy to have.

** Please keep receipts for any tools purchased in case they need to be returned or exchanged. eg tile nippers

For grouting when ready:
- Dust mask
- Apron
- Disposable or rubber gloves
- Grout

Students must wear enclosed shoes
