Short community classes
These classes teach basic spoken and written English and/or basic computer skills. They are for adults who enjoy a slower, more relaxed pace of training. The classes promote confidence and provide an opportunity to make new friends.

Can I join these classes?
You can join if you are a permanent resident or an Australian citizen
How long are these classes?
Classes run for 2 to 3 hours a week each, for a 10 week term.
Where are they held?
Classes are held at a range of community venues including Community and Neighborhood centers and local schools in suburbs in the Wollongong and Shellharbour region. [link to 4D webpage]
What will I learn?
The teacher will design a training program to meet the needs of the group and training will be provided at a pace that the participants are comfortable with.
The training will be based on a nationally recognised module from either the ‘Certificates in Spoken and Written English’ or the ‘Certificates in General Education for Adults’
How much will it cost?
Courses are either free or have a nominal $10 enrolment fee

- to check there is a vacancy
- pay the $10 fee and enrol
- note: no pre training assessment is required
Can I organise for a class to be run at my community centre?
If you have 10 or more people at your community centre who need basic training, please contact the English Program Manager to discuss your needs.

This program is funded by the NSW Department of Education and Training through the Adult and Community Education section.
