About Course

Take your SLR film or digital photography to new levels by learning how to take control of your camera. Learn camera functions including shutter speed, aperture, flash, light meters and filters. Learn the elements of great composition.
NOTE: You need an SLR with manual option.

Materials

BRING THE FOLLOWING MATERIALS TO CLASS WITH YOU

- Camera, preferably a SLR (digital or film but must be able to manually change settings)
- Other camera equipment you have eg lenses, camera flashes and manuals
- Notebook and pen
- Tripod for week 3

PARKING
There is plenty of parking onsite but please DO NOT TURN RIGHT into the carpark. You could endanger yourself, any passengers and any others on the road.

The centre should be approached from the South, either at the south end of Auburn Street, or by turning into Auburn Street from Swan or West Streets.

FOOD AND DRINK
There is a Zip Tap available for those who wish to BYO cup plus tea/coffee/milk supplies.

Please bring all other food requirements with you and for WEEKEND courses ensure you BYO lunch and snacks.

CONFIRMATION OF COURSE and PURCHASE OF MATERIALS
At times WEA must cancel classes due to lack of enrolments. To avoid undue costs please do not purchase any materials until your course has been confirmed as going ahead.

Please call the WEA office on phone: 4226 1622 three days prior to the commencement of the class to confirm that it will be going ahead.

NO SMOKING AT WEA
Please note that WEA is a smoke-free business and smoking is not allowed in the building in the carparks or in any outside area on WEA property.

Agenda

Week#1. Learning the functions of the camera and how to use your SLR on all the different modes including manual functions. We learn about shutter speeds, apertures, ISO, focus, white balance. camera techniques and composition.
Week #2. Learn how to take pictures of people, classic portraiture to more modern styles. This is a practical session with live models, learn basic lighting techniques and model/people poses.
Week #3. Field trip to Belmore Basin to learn how to shoot night photography with time exposure techniques. Special effects and multiple images. Great fun. A tripod is required.
Week#4. Constructive tips and evaluation of images taken during the course as well as pictorial assignments. Learning what worked and what didn't.
