Recognition of prior learning (RPL)
Recognition of prior learning – Are you eligible?
What is RPL?
If there is a module of study that covers areas that you already have sound knowledge of, or experience with the stated competencies, you may be able to claim RPL instead of having to complete the unit of study.
RPL involves the assessment of previously unrecognised skills and knowledge an individual has achieved outside the formal education and training system. RPL assesses this unrecognised learning against the requirements of a qualification, in respect of both entry requirements and outcomes to be achieved. By removing the need for duplication of learning, RPL encourages an individual to continue upgrading their skills and knowledge through structured education and training towards formal qualifications and improved employment outcomes.
For students who believe they may be eligible for RPL please contact the WEA on 42261622 and arrange to talk to an assessor.
Fees will apply to the assessment of whole units of competency and qualifications.
